Football 2018

The World Cup

So, the world cup is over and things have gone back to normality and now we are just a few days away from the new football season. From my very humble opinion, Russia 2018, turned out to be a tournament full of surprises and some staggeringly good football and I’m sure that I am not the only person, who normally would not purposely make a marked effort to watch a televised game of football, finding myself rearranging things so that I could watch England, “because it is the World Cup”! The trouble is, I sit down to watch and either get so involved I start to raise my voice and shout at the TV screen scaring both the dogs and my husband, that I end up having to leaving the room as I get too excited. Or, I get bored and watch the advertising hoardings, scrolling and changing for the entire 90 minutes. What are “Gazprom” and “Wanda” – does anyone know?

The final of the world cup took place in Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium, between France and Croatia with France winning 4-2 (just in case you missed it!)

Fashion

I can’t pass the opportunity here either without making comment on Gareth Southgate’s very smart attire on the side-lines. He has done wonders for waistcoats with M&S reporting at least 35% increase in waistcoat sales.

New Season

Football

As I said previously, the new football season is almost upon us and the deadline for transfers by Premier League Clubs will be 17:00 BST on Thursday 9 August 2018, ahead of the new season starting on Friday 10th August with the first Premier League match being played between Manchester United and Leicester.

Girls’ and Women’s Football

We are also very pleased to announce we are again sponsoring the Suffolk FA Girls and Women’s Football for another 3 years.
The Suffolk FA website has all the information you need on “the beautiful game” for girls and women in the county.

And I thought it would be nice to end with a link through to a previous blog where I take a brief look into the history of the women’s game.
